The
Global Mentoring Project Process
The vision is developing leaders to lead like
Jesus led, who will in turn develop more leaders
to lead like Jesus led, who will in turn help
develop others and so on... the concept of mentoring
is not new, but looking at how Jesus led and
making that accessible to potentially thousands developing leaders throughout the
world within a relatively short time is pioneering.
Cape Town 2010 is the catalyst for jump starting
the Global Mentoring Project. This is how it
works.
Delegates to Cape Town 2010 will be sent an
e-mail that will provide the information and
links to sign up for a Mentor Group either as
a Mentee or as a Mentor. We expect those e-mails
to go out sometime around November 1, 2009. Anyone
who is a delegate will have this opportunity.
It is voluntary and they must apply to be in
a Mentor Group. We anticipate that thousands
will sign up for this incredible opportunity.
Through the network of our Partners, we will
seek to qualify, approve and orient the needed
Mentors. Finding Christ-centered Mentors is critical.
We are seeking the help of high profile leaders
in the Body of Christ to help us find the right
Mentors and additional partners. We refer to
these leaders as "Linkers" and are
appointed by invitation only.
Because we are using a relational approach to
find qualified Mentors, we only accept Mentors
who are recommended by our Partners or Linkers.

The Global Mentoring Project process primarily
involves four groups of people:
Mentees
These are men and women who want to connect with
the character and heart of leading like Jesus
in a small group setting with a qualified Mentor.
Mentees have been accepted to Cape Town 2010
or recruited by a Mentor. A Mentee is required
to apply, go through Mentee Orientation, and
commit to a Mentor Group. Mentees will participate
in 6 mentoring gatherings facilitated by their
mentor, including pre-work before the gatherings.
This mentoring process is ideally done prior
to Cape Town 2010. If they desire they can
do more after the first 6 sessions.
Mentors
These are individuals of character who follow
Jesus and have longevity in leadership and
life. They can be in the marketplace, male
or female, but they have a strong desire to
help others grow in Christ. Mentors must be
recommended by a Partner or Linker, go through
Mentor Orientation, take responsibility for
the organization and logistics of their group
and facilitate 6 gatherings of their Mentor
Group. If they choose they can go to more modules
that are available.
Partners
Organizations that want to be a Partner with
the Global Mentoring Project can be recommended
by a Linker or they can apply online. (see
Partner page of this site) Partners are typically a denomination, church,
business, mission board, or ministry that is
Christ centered and wants to promote the project.
After the application process, accepted organizations
affirm all the responsibilities of a Partner.
They can recommend Mentors and even use the Global
Mentoring Project process and materials with
its own members.
Linkers
These are individuals who are asked to serve
by the Coordination Council of the Global Mentoring
Project. Linkers may be presidents or senior
leaders of denominations, mission boards and
ministries. They also include prominent pastors
and networked leaders. Linkers endorse the
Global Mentoring Project and affirm the Transformational
Values. They are responsible to promote this
project to potential partners, mentors and
mentees they know and they can recommend Partners,
Mentors and Mentees to the process.
The heart of the Global Mentoring Project process
is bringing together to accelerate the development
of leaders who lead like Jesus led. If your heart
beats for personal spiritual development and
developing Christ-centered leaders we have a
place for you. |
