Northeast Asia
The Christian population in this country is very much like the leaven in the kingdom parable– it is hidden but influential and growing. Reasonable estimates have the number of believers in small gatherings in the millions. To keep the busy shepherds in this part of the world nourished and able to feed the Lord’s sheep, a leadership mentoring movement with many of the same characteristics - hidden and influential – is growing.
Recently a multicultural MLI team spent many days ministering to leaders of communities of both rural and urban believers. MLI has been blessed by the partnership of key leaders in each of these divergent populations. One individual who had met with MLI leaders at a prior gathering was asked by prestigious Christian organization to become its leader. He turned it down so he could pursue the development of leaders through character-based mentoring with MentorLink. We are humbled by his decision and will steward and develop this relationship carefully.
Several other organizations with extensive networks throughout the region are adapting MentorLink’s materials to spread the vision for developing leaders who lead like Jesus as well as equip them with practical tools to make that vision a reality.
Please pray for the brothers and sisters in Christ throughout Asia. The Enemy of our souls has extensive political and religious systems in place to oppose the work of the gospel. When we work alongside these saints we learn anew what John meant by the words, “Greater is He who is in you that He who is in the world.” To God alone is the glory!
