Fields Blooming in India
Founder Stacy Rinehart, President Rick Sessoms and MentorLink Women Co-Director Rese Hood traveled to Mumbai, India April 4-10. Along with Brian Float, CEO of Kingdom Rain and key MLI partner as well as core members of the India training team, the progress of MentorLink’s five year efforts in the nation were assessed and plans made for the future.
It is an understatement to say that India is complex: thousands of people groups, caste system, ancient provincial/tribal issues, religious pressures which have massive social ramifications, a true divide between rich and poor. To some extent the church reflects those stratifications. We prayed for God to guide them into the unity of Jesus’ prayer in John 17 and elaborated by Paul in Philippians 2:1-4 and Ephesians 4.
God answered that prayer in every way.
Joshua Pillai, Johnny and Koki Desai and others have been faithfully sowing the seeds of Christ-like leadership throughout the vast nation. The group which gathered in Mumbai represented India in its many facets of culture and calling. There was a special event for Indian marketplace leaders who were challenged to lead like Jesus in the marketplace and to become partners with ministries to reach into the nation.
Consensus was reached on how to proceed toward the building of a solid national team. Brian Float will be investing significant time as a resource and mentor to the group and will be assisted by other MLI team members.
The seeds sown in the good soil of India are beginning to bloom. The harvest of indigenous leaders with Jesus’ way of leading is coming.
