“The Holy
Spirit is given to the believer to be and
to do everything in him that God wants him
to be and do. The Spirit is given to him
especially as the Spirit of prayer and supplication.
Is it clear that everything in prayer depends
on our trusting the Holy Spirit to do His
work in us? We must yield ourselves to His
leading and depend only and entirely upon
Him.”

Walking With Jesus in Hard Times
Aug 07, 2009
“Take up your cross and follow Me” are the words of Jesus to the Twelve and to us. This is not an easy saying to hear or to live.
All of us go through periodic hard times. Times where we really don’t know the right thing to do or the right thing to do is really hard. You may be in one of these times right now.
Jesus is our elder brother in this journey. He walked among us and faced the hardships we face. He sympathizes with us – He knows what temptations we face and He is compassionate and gracious to us even in our failings.
I think the writer of Hebrews says it best, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (Heb. 12:1-2)
Today, let’s look to Jesus as we take up our crosses.
