“The Holy Spirit is given to the believer to be and to do everything in him that God wants him to be and do. The Spirit is given to him especially as the Spirit of prayer and supplication. Is it clear that everything in prayer depends on our trusting the Holy Spirit to do His work in us? We must yield ourselves to His leading and depend only and entirely upon Him.”

  What Abba Desires
Sep 12, 2009

I woke up really early this morning and spent some time in Matthew 5:1-10. I was struck that those who are humble, broken, gentle, thirsting for righteousness, merciful, pure in heart and peacemakers are blessed by the Father. These are not on the list of successful traits in this world, but they are in the next. Regardless of how the world thinks of them, they are the qualities the Father desires.

Then I thought, “How much have I been influenced by the world? Are these the character qualities I really want in my heart? Am I pursuing these?” Then I found myself asking Abba for grace to walk with Jesus in a manner of life like He taught.

Seems to me that this is the way of the Spirit. As he opens our eyes to see some aspect of what he desires in our lives, he also brings us to repentance and a renewed heart to walk with Him.

What is He revealing to you today? What is your heart saying about it? How does He want you to respond?

Seeking Him,
Dr. Stacy Rinehart
