“The Holy
Spirit is given to the believer to be and
to do everything in him that God wants him
to be and do. The Spirit is given to him
especially as the Spirit of prayer and supplication.
Is it clear that everything in prayer depends
on our trusting the Holy Spirit to do His
work in us? We must yield ourselves to His
leading and depend only and entirely upon
Him.”

Only Be Strong and Courageous
Jul 09, 2009
In my devotional times in the last week, I finished Deuteronomy and began Joshua. I have been struck by two themes. The repetitive admonition to “fear not” and the constant reminder to be “strong and courageous”. These messages were directed to the people of Israel and often, personally to Joshua.
Seems to me that the same themes are relevant in our day. Are you taking bold steps for the King? Be strong and courageous. Are you moving into the unknown for Him? Be strong and courageous. Are there strongholds to formidable for you (as in Jericho)? Be strong and courageous.
We know from Exodus 33:11 that Joshua had a heart to meet with the Lord: “Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses turned again into the camp, his assistant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.”
Be strong and courageous. The Lord spoke to Joshua and now, to us. The key to do this is in our communion with the Father. Let us pursue our walks with Him so that we will be strong and courageous in our own battles.
Looking to Him,
