“The Holy Spirit is given to the believer to be and to do everything in him that God wants him to be and do. The Spirit is given to him especially as the Spirit of prayer and supplication. Is it clear that everything in prayer depends on our trusting the Holy Spirit to do His work in us? We must yield ourselves to His leading and depend only and entirely upon Him.”

  Pray For Workers
Jul 17, 2009

A few days ago, I talked with a younger leader from Alexandria, Egypt. He has a deep burden for a mentor in his own life. Beyond this, he has a calling from God to help his peers throughout the Middle East find mentors. This is why he called me.

He shared that, to his knowledge, there are no mentors he knows of in the Arab speaking world. So where is a younger leader to go for a Barnabas in his life – one who will champion him and build him up and release him to the ministry God has given him?

I could hear the emotions in his voice and the ache for a solution to his need and the needs of multitudes of emerging younger leaders who really want to follow Jesus and serve His Kingdom among the lost of these Muslim lands.

Whenever there is a lack of workers in the harvest fields, Jesus told us to pray. "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Luke 10:2).

Do you see a shortfall of leaders who lead like Jesus in your ministry or church? Prayer is key to new workers – and the case of this young man in Egypt, the key to finding a mentors for many in the Middle East.

Lives are changed, doors are opened, people are developed as God moves in hearts moved by prayer. This is why we are so committed to sharing with you prayer needs we see in this Weekly Prayer Update.

So, brothers and sisters, pray for mentors – for workers – to meet the needs of these younger leaders.

Looking to Him,
