“The Holy Spirit is given to the believer to be and to do everything in him that God wants him to be and do. The Spirit is given to him especially as the Spirit of prayer and supplication. Is it clear that everything in prayer depends on our trusting the Holy Spirit to do His work in us? We must yield ourselves to His leading and depend only and entirely upon Him.”

  God Looks For ...
Jul 24, 2009

I often have verses rumble around in my mind. I assume the Spirit brings them to mind for a reason pertaining to something happening in my life or heart. Today this one is rumbling around: “But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word” (Isa 66:2).

I feel privileged to partner with the people we regularly pray for. They are people who are humble and contrite and tremble at His word. There are no formulas to help a person get to this heart condition. There are no messages, or Bible studies, books or materials. The issue is in the heart. This is why we often ask you to pray for the Spirit to change the hearts of people.

The same is true for each of us. The issue really is our heart. Today, take a moment to ask the Spirit for a heart that is humble and contrite and that you would be a person who trembles at His word.

Seeking to walk with Him,
Dr. Stacy Rinehart
